Our history as a pisco company goes back approximately 100 years, when the Casas family settled in the valley of Catapalla – Lunahuaná, and decided to establish their wineries, applying their knowledge of planting, cultivation and production of wines and piscos.
After many years of history, knowledge and mysticism in the handling of these delicious delicacies (as one of the ancestors, Don Fausto Casas, called it), the Casas family decided to spread this ancestral knowledge through their products with that perfect balance of aromas and flavors. Our wine products have a unique flavor and it is believed that it is related to ancestral knowledge added to the mystery that is said to exist in their vineyards, since by something inexplicable to understand or discover, they achieve that perfect balance of aromas and flavors in their distillates.
This unique flavor along with the mystery is something impressive that only you can discover.
The ancestors of the Casas family settled in this valley more than 100 years ago, due to the appropriate characteristics of these lands and climate for planting grapevines
1871
Don Pedro Casas García was born, in the beautiful and sunny valley of Lunahuaná – Cañete, located south of Lima.
1898
Don Pedro Casas, farmer of diverse fruits, tubers, cotton, among others, begins – in Lunahuaná – the handmade production of cachina, wine and pisco, mainly for family consumption and for the workers who supported him in the field. With the support of his wife, Doña Eugenia Cuzcano, they acquire skills in the management of their crops.
1907
Don Fausto Casas, son of Don Pedro and Doña Eugenia, was born in Lunahuaná. He married Doña Teresa Carbonero, who, together with their children, continue with the mystique and special dedication to their vineyards.
1911 – 1950
(1911) The Casas family, under the guidance and inspiration of Don Pedro, acquired skills in the production of wine products and decided to expand their production of piscos and wines.
(1950) Don Fausto Casas popularized the phrase: pass me the “knife“ (pisco glass) because we must cut and share the “delicacy“ (pisco).
1990
The Casas family continues the tradition of producing high quality Pisco and wine in their native land – Catapalla – Lunahuana. The children and grandchildren are inspired by the family mystique applied in all stages of the process, from pruning, harvesting, fermentation to the distillation of the fine musts.
2014
The brothers Richard and Miguel (4th generation of the Casas family), sons of Don Cipriano Casas and Doña Amalia Alcalá, decided to build a new winery in one of the growing areas called Taro – Catapalla. In this year Bodegas y Viñedos Casas was founded, with the vision of sharing their fine delicacies.
2014
The “Marqués del Monte” pisco brand was born, a name that refers to a story told by Don Fausto Casas, which he used to narrate every time the grapes harvest and distilled n the winery. He used to say that at midnight a marquis would appear in the middle of the vineyards, watching over the winemaking processes shared from generation to generation.
2015
Bodegas y Viñedos Casas obtained its first award for the quality of its Pisco Mosto Verde Quebranta (Silver Medal). From then on, year after year, consecutively, it received Gold and Silver Medals in the Regional and National Pisco Awards.
2016
The “Altos del Taro“ pisco brand was born, named after one of the vineyards located in the Taro sector, and also because the wineyard is located on one of the highest hills in the area, which allows a beautiful view of the entire valley.
2018 – 2019
The wine brands “Taro 975“ and “Sangre y Linaje“ are incorporated, due to the good acceptance of the public for the wine products, which are developed with the family tradition and the support of winemakers, engineers and experts in the field. Furthermore, Wineries and Vineyards Casas joins as a founding member of a collaborative initiative, Consortium Premium Pisco Peru.
