BODEGA & VIÑEDOS VICTORIA

OUR HISTORY

Our winery was founded by Victoria Montalván Ávalos and Francisco Sánchez Presentación, given the winemaking experience of our mother Victoria in the management of the grandparents' winery called "La Sin Rival", which at the beginning of the 20th century was one of the most renowned wineries in the Cañete River Valley.
Francisco after 31 years of service in the Civil Guard returns with our mother to his homeland to give another great start with the planting of vineyards and the production of wines and piscos in Bodega Victoria.
In 2005 the company was formalized as Vinícola Victoria de los Sánchez SAC in memory of Victoria Montalván, with a vision of making our products known and preserving the family legacy with a lot of passion, to continue making the best wines and piscos using traditional or artisanal methods in Lúcumo - Lunahuaná.

OUR WINERY AND VINEYARDS

Bodega Victoria is located in the CPM Lúcumo - Lunahuaná, a beautiful place located on the left bank of the Cañete River, belonging to the province of Cañete, Lima Region - Peru.
It is an area rich in history, with a privileged year-round sunny climate, quiet and ecological. Each of our vineyards has a special name: Rancho Viejo, La Lúcuma, San Antonio and La Pancha. We have vines over 40 years old that provide us with the varieties of pisco grapes, such as Quebranta Grape, Uvina Grape, Moscatel Grape; and wine grapes such as Black Borgoña and White Borgoña Grape, for the production of wines and piscos for the most exquisite palates.

YEAR OF EXPERIENCE

1900

THE BEGINNING OF OUR HISTORY

During the colony, many families of Spanish and Italian immigrants settled in Lunahuaná because of its pleasant climate and land suitable for growing grapes. At the eginning of the 20th century, one of them was the Montalván family who, due to their knowledge and winemaking culture, founded the winery “La Sin Rival” in the town of Ramadilla – Lunahuaná, managed by our maternal grandparents José Montalván and Maximina Ávalos.

1951

EXPERIENCE AND PASSION FOR WINES AND PISCOS
Victoria, the last daughter of the Montalván family, took the reins of the family winery, taking it to its highest level of wine and pisco production, obtaining well-deserved recognition throughout the Cañete River Valley.

1961

LOVE STORY IS BORN

In 1960, the paths of Francisco Sánchez and Victoria Montalván, children of neighboring towns Lúcumo and Ramadilla, crossed. United by their passion for wines and piscos, in 1961 their love became a reality when they married, thus completing the great family that will forever carry on the legacy of the family winemaking tradition.

1980

INHERITANCE OF LIFE

In Lúcumo we inherited the lands of our paternal grandparents Rafael Sánchez and Felicita Presentación, who were descendants of the first settlers. After our father Francisco’s retirement due to 31 years of service in the Benemérita Guardia Civil and the winemaking experience of Victoria and her sons, the family tradition of producing wines and piscos with traditional and artisanal methods began again in Bodega Victoria.

1996

In memory of our mother Victoria Montalván Avalos (1933 – 1996).

2000 – 2005

(2000) Wines and piscos are produced under denomination of Victoria de los Sánchez, due to its great sentimental meaning, as it is the name of the person  who has always inspired us to do our best in our lives.

(2005) Our company is formalized as Vinícola Victoria de los Sánchez SAC and the brands of Pisco Victoria de los Sánchez in its varieties of Pisco Quebranta, Pisco Uvina and Pisco Acholado are born.

2007

We obtained the DO Denomination of Origin Pisco, thus guaranteeing the quality of our Pisco produced with artisanal methods at Bodega Victoria.
